Tamiami, FL gained an early lead and carried it throughout game 15 of the Pony League World Series. They defeated Riverside, CA 18-6, sending both teams into a tie-breaker tomorrow evening.

Chris Mourelle hit a grand slam in the first inning, the 32nd in Pony League World Series history. He also recorded eight RBI. David Jervis added another two homeruns in the victory, his third in the series.  Claudio Rubiera homered over the left field fence as well.

Between their first game against Washington, PA and their second game of the evening, Tamiami totaled 36 runs in one night.

The win tied Tamiami and Riverside for a place in the 2009 World Series Championship game, sending both teams to battle it out again tomorrow evening in an “if necessary” game. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 pm, and the winner heads to the Championship game on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.

Chinese Taipei and Puerto Rico will also play an if necessary game tomorrow at 5:30 pm.
