Game 5 of the Pony League World Series has concluded. This game was the third of three games today. The participants were Levittown (Toa Baja), PR and Chinese Taipei, Taiwan. At the conclusion of the game in the 7th inning the score was Levittown (Toa Baja), PR (3)- Chinese Taipei, Taiwan (1). The game started today at 8:13PM EST and ended at 10:11PM EST.

Puerto Rico defeated Chinese Taipei 3-1 in a heated first round game of the Pony League World Series. They took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning, and were able to maintain that lead despite a valiant Chinese Taipei effort.
Roberto Guillermo, Onix Martinez and Daniel Blanco each scored one run to put Puerto Rico in the lead. Jose Mercado is credited with two RBI, and Blanco added another. A Cheng Yuan Yang of Chinese Taipei was called out on a homerun after officials ruled that his foot did not touch the base.
Puerto Rico will take the field again on Monday August 10 at 8:00 pm against Johnstown, PA. Chinese Taiepei will play before Puerto Rico on Monday at 8:00 pm. |
